Job summary

OpenAI in San Francisco seeks an Engineering Acceleration specialist to design, build, and maintain foundational tooling that boosts developer productivity across the GPT and API stack. You will own strategy and drive integrations with Terraform, Buildkite, Postgres, Kafka, and Python-based systems, while partnering with product engineering to deliver observable, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering experience, including 3+ years building developer tooling for infrastructure.
• Strong empathy for developer workflows and toil, with ability to improve tooling.
• Willingness to learn, share knowledge, and operate in ambiguous environments.

Responsibilities

• Drive design, development, and implementation of tools, systems, and processes that accelerate engineering velocity.
• Use our latest AI tools to re-think how we can be the most productive team in the industry.
• Work closely with various teams within OpenAI to understand their workflows, challenges, and needs, and ensure the tools and systems built address these requirements.
• Bring new features and research capabilities to the world by partnering with product engineers to lay the necessary technical foundations.
• Guide and advise product engineering teams on best practices for ensuring observable, scalable systems.
• Participate in on-call rotation to respond to critical incidents as needed.
