Job summary

Target is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Developer Platform team in Minneapolis, MN. You’ll work on a full-stack system (Kotlin, Python, TypeScript) that scaffolds configured codebases and enforces security standards and integrations.

You’ll own architectural decisions, contribute to a roadmap spanning AI-assisted workflows and new infrastructure domains, and collaborate with engineers across a large-scale organization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong backend fundamentals; JVM languages (Kotlin/Java).
• Experience designing and shipping production REST APIs.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and developer platform tooling.
• PostgreSQL or other relational database experience.
• Comfort navigating and contributing to distributed, multi-service codebases.
• Strong critical thinking skills and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Build and support a platform powering thousands of engineers that scaffolds configured codebases with security standards and integrations.
• Design abstractions for new infrastructure integrations and platform features.
• Develop AI-native agent interfaces that enable generating projects from IDEs or coding assistants.
• Own architectural decisions and contribute to a roadmap for AI-assisted workflows and broader infrastructure domains.
