Job summary

TJ Consulting Group seeks a Senior Software Engineer/Developer to design, develop, and field advanced cyber tools supporting offensive, defensive, and C2 cyberspace operations. You will work within a fast-paced, mission-driven environment to enable operational readiness and capability advancement in Windows ecosystems.

Responsibilities include building low-level Windows components, reverse engineering, exploit development, and collaboration with red/blue teams to ensure tool effectiveness

Qualifications

• Four years of recent system/software engineering experience with a strong understanding of software architectures.
• Experience designing, developing, integrating, testing, and developing cyberspace capabilities/software solutions.
• Experience with Windows based command line and script development.
• Experience with Bash, Python or C/C++.
• Experience with C#/PowerShell.
• Experience with reverse engineering with Linux-based RE tools (GDB, Ghidra, IDA Pro, Radare).
• Experience with Exploit Development.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain advanced cyber tools for Windows environments, focusing on offensive, defensive, and situational awareness capabilities.
• Engineerlow-level Windows components (drivers, DLLs, services) to support stealthy tool deployment, system interaction, and evasion techniques.
• Reverse engineer Windows internals and third-party software to identify vulnerabilities, develop exploits, or enhance tool effectiveness.
• Develop and maintain capabilities in C/C++, Rust, and/or Assembly for performance and control in Windows environments.
• Conduct research into Windows OS internals, including kernel-mode operations and APIs.
• Integrate tools with C2 frameworks, ensuring reliable and secure communications.
• Lead the development of detection-resistant payloads and post-exploitation modules for mission needs.
• Collaborate with red/blue teams to validate tool effectiveness against EDR/AV.
• Implement obfuscation, encryption, and packing to enhance OPSEC.
• Provide mentorship and perform code reviews; enforce secure coding practices.
• Stay current on cyber threats and Windows updates to maintain relevance.
• Develop automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment scripts.

Minimum/General Experience

Candidate must be capable of working in a fast-paced. The successful candidate must have four years of recent system/software engineering experience with a strong understanding of software architectures. The candidate will possess and maintain required skills to include, but not limited to:

• Experience designing, developing, integrating, testing, and developing cyberspace capabilities/software solutions
• Experience with Windows based command line and script development
• Experience with Bash, Python or C/C++
• Experience with C#/PowerShell
• Experience with Reverse Engineering with Linux-based RE tools (e.g., GDB, Ghidra, IDA Pro, Radare)
• Experience with Exploit Development
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to convey technical ideas in a clear, logical fashion and translate highly technical data into easily comprehensible, actionable requirements is essential

Nice To Have Experience

• Familiarity with DoD, Air Force, and national-level cyber policies, procedures, and security protocols for handling classified materials.
• Experience with DoD networks.
• Strong coding proficiency in supported languages and secure software development frameworks.
• Advanced project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and risk assessment for complex, multi-agency projects.
• Excellent communication abilities, capable of preparing and presenting technical reports, briefings, and decision papers for senior leadership.
• Ability to adapt to evolving technologies, foresee technological impacts, and tailor tools and practices to specific mission sets.

• Collaborate with red teams, blue teams, and threat emulation groups to validate tool effectiveness and stealth against modern EDR and antivirus systems.
• Implement obfuscation, encryption, and code-packing strategies to enhance operational security (OPSEC) and avoid detection during engagements.
• Provide technical mentorship and code reviews to junior developers; enforce secure coding practices and development standards.
• Stay current on evolving cyber threats, zero-day exploits, and Windows platform updates to ensure toolsets remain effective and relevant.
• Develop automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and operational deployment scripts to support rapid capability integration and mission readiness.
