Job summary

Modash is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Data Search team. You will work on the core products that help brands discover creators across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, handling data from 400M+ creators and billions of media files.

You will own the end-to-end search system, build multimodal embeddings, and evaluate models for production readiness, with autonomy and collaboration across Data Core, Data Insights, and product teams.

Qualifications

• Built large-scale data or backend products with attention to latency, reliability and cost.
• Designed distributed systems with clear throughput and data flow.
• Built LLM-powered or agentic features in production and understood model tradeoffs.
• Worked autonomously on ambiguous problems, gathering requirements and driving forward.

Responsibilities

• Improve creator search across 400M+ profiles and billions of media files, focusing on retrieval, ranking, and relevance.
• Build systems to generate and utilize multimodal embeddings from images, video, text, and audio at scale for a customer-facing search experience.
• Ship and evaluate new search capabilities, balancing cost, latency, and quality, moving approaches from experiments to production.
• Own the search system end to end: define problems, gather requirements, design architecture, implement, release, measure, and iterate.
