Socket.dev is seeking a hands-on senior backend engineer to own core APIs and services at scale, influencing architecture and delivering high-impact features. You will work directly with a technical founder and shape systems handling tens of millions of events daily.

Ideal candidates have 6–10 years of backend or full-stack experience, strong API and distributed system fundamentals, and comfort in a fast-moving, high-ownership environment in the DC area with relocation support.

Qualifications

• 6-10 years of backend or full-stack engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals in APIs, distributed systems, and debugging.
• Experience with modern web stacks (e.g., JavaScript + any OOP backend).
• Comfort working in a fast-moving, high-ownership environment.
• Ability to work hybrid in the DC area (relocation supported).

Responsibilities

• Build and scale high-throughput APIs and services (50M+ daily events).
• Own features end-to-end, from design to production.
• Improve system performance, reliability, and security.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and technical direction.
• Mentor junior engineers as you grow into a leadership role.
