Job description

  • We are seeking a seasoned Sr. Software Engineer to join our Data & Integrations Engineering team on the Integrations Engineering squad to integrate with new client systems and enhance the integrations of our live clients
  • This team owns implementations, migration, and live integration support for the flagship Cedar Pay product. You will be partnering closely with Data & Integrations Platform, Product, Delivery, and Support
  • This is a dynamic role that focuses on both refining and enhancing our critical integrations and on strategic investments in our core data pipelines through data semantics, 835 processing, and data catalog and lineage
  • Lead the design, implementation, and evolution of the interfaces that connect live integration data to the rest of Cedar
  • Serve as a product engineer for internal users, driving the roadmap and delivering tools and data abstractions that make messy, customer-sourced data understandable and consumable across the company
  • Support our existing live clients by implementing strategic enhancements to their integrations
  • Act as a technical mentor for the team, establishing coding standards and best practices for our evolving data platform
  • Balance delivery on the needs of today while keeping an eye toward our future North Star Architecture, grounding deliverables in business critical outcomes with strong engineering fundamentals
  • Collaborate closely with delivery engineering teams on mechanisms to improve the quality, speed and scalability of data integration with healthcare providers
  • Continuously drive scalability into data tools, processes and engineering practices in order to reduce implementation and analytic timelines, customer friction points and maintenance costs
  • Apply rigorous software engineering practices to the data domain, including version control, automated testing (unit/integration), CI/CD, and structured logging/observability
Benefits
  • Multiple health / dental / vision insurance options to fit your needs
  • Generous compensation package, including equity and 401k program matching 100% of your contributions, up to 3% of your annual compensation
  • Unlimited PTO for vacation, sick and mental health days–we encourage everyone to take at least 20 days of vacation per year to ensure dedicated time to spend with loved ones, explore, rest and recharge
  • We provide up to $10,000 in reimbursement through Carrot Fertility to support comprehensive, inclusive care for family-forming and reproductive health journeys
  • 16 weeks of parental leave for all expecting parents
  • Remote-friendly team events
  • Location flexibility: you can work from home, in our NYC headquarters, or any combination of the two
  • Constant learning and development opportunities
  • Resources for mental and physical wellbeing
Qualifications
  • Strong communicator who collaborates well with cross-functional teams and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experienced in designing systems with real-world scale, complexity, and ambiguity
  • 6+ years of professional software development experience, ideally in data/system integrations roles
  • Skilled in mentoring peers and helping others grow through pairing, feedback, and guidance
  • Passionate about improving the healthcare experience through thoughtful, human-centered software
  • Comfortable with tradeoffs and pragmatic about architecture decisions
  • Comfort with Python/Django
  • Experience with Healthcare Interoperability Standards such as HL7/FHIR, X12, etc
  • Technical expertise across the data ecosystem: storage, query and ETL orchestration technology; governance and quality; analytics, visualization, and AI/ML pipelines
  • Familiar with data engineering paradigms like ETL, ELT, Medallion Architecture, and Data Mesh, and can reason between them
  • Strong self-starter with initiative. Cedar is a mature startup, but successful candidates will still need a strong drive to understand the systems and navigate them to deliver successfully
  • Familiarity with data engineering tools like dbt, Snowflake, Apache Airflow, Dagster, SQL Alchemy, Fivetran, and Kafka
  • Familiarity with Kotlin and Go
