Job summary

Voleon, a leading AI-driven investment company, seeks a Senior Software Engineer for its Data Infrastructure team. This full-time, remote role focuses on building scalable data infrastructure and tooling to empower cross-functional research and production workflows, with emphasis on reliability and performance.

You will collaborate with engineering and research colleagues, define the team's technical roadmap, and mentor others while contributing to a culture of curiosity, rigor, and excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Proven design and implementation with emphasis on correctness, robustness, scalability.
• Experience with large codebases and modular, maintainable software.
• Expertise in Python, Go, Java or C++.
• Experience with scalable services/APIs and large-scale data infrastructure.
• Experience with data storage technologies (PostgreSQL, Redis, Ceph, etc.).

• Guide complex initiatives from initial requirements gathering and robust system design to deployment, effectively evaluating dependent technologies and collaborating closely with stakeholders.

• Base Salary $225K – $310K Offers Bonus

The listed base salary range for this position is based upon the location(s) of this posting. Individual salaries are determined through a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. Base salary does not include other forms of total compensation such as bonus compensation and other benefits.

As a Senior/Staff Software Engineer on our Data Infrastructure group, you will contribute to scaling and advancing our entire data infrastructure. This includes building data-related infrastructure and tooling, and collaborating closely with various teams to facilitate and improve their usage of data. You will work with our team lead to design, scope, and deliver large scale projects within the team. You will collaborate closely with a diverse group of engineers, and directly impact the team's productivity and successful delivery. You will help to define the team's technical roadmap towards achieving strategic-level engineering goals. You'll participate in mentorship and development of other engineers on the team, and shaping our company's engineering culture.

Requirements

Computer Science / Engineering bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)

5+ years of relevant software engineering experience

Proven track record of software design and implementation with focus on correctness, robustness, efficiency, and scale

Experience working with large codebases and building modular, extensible, and maintainable software

Expertise in a modern programming language, such as Python, Go, Java or C++

Design and implementation of scalable services and APIs, highly-available systems, and/or large-scale data infrastructure

Experience with data storage and management technologies (e.g. PostgreSQL, Artifactory, Ceph, Redis)

Strong communication skills and a knack for explaining complex ideas with clarity and simplicity

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with the following strongly preferred:

Cluster management and containerization technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker)

Cloud storage, querying, and processing technologies (e.g. Iceberg, BigQuery, Snowflake, DynamoDB, Trino/Athena)

Experience building data platforms with a developer experience lens — designing APIs, access patterns, or tooling that abstracts infrastructure complexity from end users

Job scheduling and orchestration technologies (e.g. Airflow, Slurm)
