Job description

Build the future of the AI Data Cloud. Join the Snowflake team.

Snowflake is the AI Data Cloud trusted by the world's most innovative companies. Our Cortex Apps team is building technology that makes high quality data analysis accessible to everyone through natural language. We're transforming how people interact with their data, eliminating technical barriers, and democratizing insights.

Our suite of products enables users to search and analyze their data and build sophisticated AI agents that can reason through complex problems automatically. We're not just implementing academic research - we're shipping production-ready AI applications at scale.

About the Role:

You will work at the intersection of cutting-edge AI research and enterprise-grade software development. You will solve novel challenges in LLM-based systems while ensuring our products remain reliable, accurate, and valuable to customers.

Your work will directly impact how businesses understand and leverage their data. You might focus on improving our natural language to SQL conversion, enhancing search relevance, or developing more reliable agent frameworks that can consistently solve complex tasks. You will ship.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing quality evaluation frameworks for LLM-based systems

  • Creating innovative prompt engineering solutions to improve accuracy and reliability

  • Conducting experiments to continuously improve our metrics and system performance

  • Building robust systems that can handle the unpredictability of natural language

  • Collaborating with infrastructure teams to productionize improvements

  • Investigating customer-reported issues and turning them into product enhancements

  • Developing frameworks that balance powerful AI capabilities with appropriate guardrails

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Go.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

  • (For Cortex Analyst) Proficiency with writing SQL

  • (For Cortex Analyst) Experience working with semantic layers, prior experience as a data scientist/data analyst, and with BI tools, are a plus.

Join us in building the future of how businesses will interact with their data through our flagship Cortex products. With Cortex Search, you'll enable lightning-fast, intelligent search across massive datasets. Through Cortex Analyst, you'll help users get direct answers to business questions. And with Cortex Agents, you'll build AI assistants that combine reasoning with direct access to enterprise data. Together, these products form the backbone of Snowflake's vision for the future of data interaction.

Every Snowflake employee is expected to follow the company's confidentiality and security standards for handling sensitive data. Snowflake employees must abide by the company's data security plan as an essential part of their duties. It is every employee's duty to keep customer information secure and confidential.

Snowflake is growing fast, and we're scaling our team to help enable and accelerate our growth. We are looking for people who share our values, challenge ordinary thinking, and push the pace of innovation while building a future for themselves and Snowflake.
