Job summary

Toast is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build innovative web solutions for Toast Local, collaborating with frontend, backend, and native mobile engineers to enhance the digital dining experience for guests. This role focuses on leading web initiatives, delivering guest-facing features, and shaping what gets built while maintaining ownership from development to rollout.

The position offers hybrid work across US locations with remote options, and opportunities to work across React, Next.js,

Qualifications

5+ years of experience as a full-stack software engineer.
Strong frontend experience with React and TypeScript; Next.js is a plus.
Backend experience building GraphQL or REST APIs; Kotlin/Java a plus.
Ownership of work from start to finish: shipping, launching, monitoring, and analyzing results.
A product-minded perspective with ability to shape what gets built.
Proven track record leading technical projects across teams.

Responsibilities

Lead the team’s work on the web, from guest-facing features to restaurant tools.
Build cross-platform experiences with iOS, Android, and backend engineers.
Work across the stack, from React and Next.js on the front end to the services behind it.
Experiment directly with guests and restaurants to test new dining experiences.
Ship code that drives the growth and strategy of Toast’s consumer business.
