Job summary

Optum is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer on the MCDS team to build, modernize, and maintain enterprise full-stack solutions across frontend and backend systems. You will migrate legacy components to Azure native apps, manage data workflows with ADF and Service Bus, and lead AI-powered automation initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, IT, or engineering field.
• 8+ years in software solution development.
• 5+ years in front-end web development technologies and framework architecture.
• 5+ years full-stack engineering across React, Node.js, and .NET.
• 3+ years SPA architecture, front-end build environments, and build automation tools.
• 3+ years configuring/managing Apache Tomcat servers.
• 2+ years building, migrating, deploying cloud-native apps on Microsoft Azure.
• 2+ years orchestrating data integration workflows with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or Azure Service Bus.
• 2+ years working with Azure SQL Managed Instance and/or Delta Lake data architectures.
• 2+ years using Git for source control.
• 1 year designing/deploying AI-powered solutions or smart workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, refactor, and maintain enterprise full-stack web apps and microservices using React, Node.js, .NET, and Azure cloud services.
• Architect and execute cloud migration initiatives to Azure native apps and RESTful APIs.
• Orchestrate enterprise data integration workflows and pipelines with ADF, Databricks, and Service Bus.
• Design and optimize persistence layers using Azure SQL MI and Delta Lake for high-performance processing.
• Develop AI-powered solutions and platform automations with responsible AI focus.
• Utilize AI tools to streamline engineering workflows and automate tasks.
• Evaluate new cloud tech and AI trends for architecture and optimization.
• Analyze legacy code and data flows to balance features with refactoring and stability.
• Drive front-end modernization including CAS portal and Harmony UI migration.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams while upholding security, DR, and compliance standards.
