Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer in Madison, WI to lead design, development, and testing of software applications for Abbott Cancer Diagnostics. You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with business stakeholders to deliver high‑quality software.

Ideal candidates have strong object‑oriented programming skills, experience with RESTful services, databases and ORM, plus cloud familiarity and CI/CD workflows. Some nights/weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, information systems, mathematics, or engineering or 4 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of software development and OOP concepts.
• Experience with RESTful services, databases, and ORM technologies.
• Experience with cloud-based frameworks (Azure/AWS).
• Familiarity with Agile tools such as Jira/Confluence.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and testing of software applications for Abbott Cancer Diagnostics.
• Troubleshoot issues of medium to high complexity and mentor junior engineers.
• Influence project direction and review design alternatives proactively.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate project status clearly.
• Maintain high quality software adhering to design control processes.
