Job summary

First American is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to cloud-native applications in an Azure environment. You will code, review pull requests, and help shape architecture while mentoring junior engineers in an agile setting.

You bring 5+ years in cloud-native development, strong Python skills, and solid SQL/RDBMS experience. Excellent communication and a passion for modern DevOps practices are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in cloud-native applications (Azure strongly preferred, AWS also ok).
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Thorough understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
• Strong RDBMS experience (PostgreSQL, MS SQL, etc.) and ability to design tables and write queries.
• SQL experience is a strong plus.
• Knowledge of design patterns and ability to assess trade-offs, scalability, and performance.

• Modify and enhance existing applications and assist product delivery by writing code and reviewing PRs.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for hands on coding as well as supporting and contributing to the architecture, design of cloud-native applications & mentoring junior software engineers. What You’ll Do:

• Contribute to design, development, coding, testing, debugging, and deploying of software in an Azure cloud environment

What You’ll Bring:

• 5+ years of experience in cloud-native applications (Azure strongly preferred, AWS is also ok) using Python
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Thorough understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) design and practices
• Strong RDBMS experience (PostgreSQL, MS SQL etc.) designing tables & writing queries
• SQL experience is a strong plus
• Proven ability to identify, explain, and implement common design patterns
• Demonstrated experience and design of systems or pipelines from scratch
• Ability to assess and clearly articulate design trade-offs, scalability options, and performance implications
• Conduct code reviews to ensure best coding practices are utilized
• Strong knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, CI/CD, and DevOps
• Fluency with multi-platform software utilizing various programming environments and tools
• Excellent communication and written skills
• Eager to learn new languages and technologies
• Knowledge of Python, Ruby, Azure, React,JavaScript/TypeScript, REST API, Relational Databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL etc.), NoSQL Databases (MongoDB etc.) preferred
• Experience with Docker, Linux, Windows, Azure, GIT, NPM Package Management preferred

Pay Range: $129,300.00 - $172,300.00 Annually

This hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
