Job summary

IXL Learning, a leading edtech company, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join the Curiosity Media team, empowering language learning through SpanishDict for millions of learners.

You will build full-stack features using TypeScript, Node.js, React, SQL, AWS, and Docker, while collaborating across teams to deliver scalable learning experiences and improve performance of high-profile features.

Qualifications

• BA/BS or advanced degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Thoughtful problem-solving: ability to decompose complex problems and work toward clean, practical solutions independently or with teammates.
• Experience building APIs and data models; strong working knowledge of SQL.
• Familiarity with AWS and Docker is a bonus.
• Put users first: critical thinking about how your work shapes Spanish and English learners.
• Empathetic communication: explain technical decisions clearly in writing or real-time brainstorming, and engage thoughtfully in disagreements.
• Team player: enjoy collaborating cross-functionally, care about learning, growing, and helping others.

Responsibilities

• Improve the performance and reliability of high-profile features.
• Collaborate with the team to shape the technical requirements of new initiatives.
