Senior Software Engineer: Build Mission-Critical Systems

Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to own mission-critical applications across our Starlink and manufacturing domains. You will build reliable software used in high throughput environments and collaborate across teams to advance our launch and network initiatives.

You will work on full-stack systems, optimize performance, and design scalable architectures with modern tooling, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud approaches, contributing to SpaceX's ambitious mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or scientific discipline and 5+ years of professional experience in software development; OR 7+ years of professional experience building software in lieu of a degree
• 3+ years of professional experience in full stack development
• Proficiency in Python, C#.NET, Go, Scala, Java or similar OO language
• Experience building SPAs and modern web apps
• Experience with version control, CI/CD and deployment pipelines
• Expertise in designing scalable software systems
• Strong knowledge of testing, CI, build, deployment, and monitoring
• Experience profiling and optimizing application performance
• Familiarity with build systems (Make, Bazel, Gradle) and package managers (pip, npm)
• Experience with UNIX-like OS and tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet)
• Experience with in-stream data processing (Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ)
• Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Front-end experience with Angular or React
• Database experience with PostgreSQL or SQL Server

• Own all aspects of software engineering and product development
