Job description

The Opportunity

Lose It! is looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and scale services that power our top-rated mobile apps. This role will report to the Senior Director of Infrastructure Engineering and work directly with product managers and fellow engineers to deliver efficient, durable, and well-architected experiences to our members. Key Responsibilities
  • Improve the performance of the backend services that power our mobile application and make them more maintainable and scalable.
  • Support front-end engineers in adding new features to mobile products.
  • Respond to outages and determine root causes to prevent future ones.
  • Resolve issues with support of teammates as part of an on-call rotation for production systems.
  • Ensure work is scoped properly and executed in the best way possible.
Job Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Comfortable coding and debugging in most of the stack - Java/Kotlin (or similar language), SQL, Redis, web servers, message queues.
  • Experience with running workloads in a cloud provider - for instance Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, etc.
  • Executes tactical efforts autonomously.
  • High productivity; writes a lot of code.
  • Very responsive; quickly adapts to code feedback.
  • Supports teammates; makes the developers around them better.
  • Highly influential within the Infrastructure team and across the company.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to resolve issues with best practices, processes, and strategies.
