Job summary

Reinventing Geospatial, Inc. (RGi) seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to migrate codebases from Java 8 to Java 17, integrate backend pipelines with Jenkins, and work with geoserver to process geospatial data for defense and federal programs.

You will join a project team responsible for configuring and maintaining backend systems across environments and driving performance improvements and scalable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with ability to obtain SCI access and willingness to obtain CI Polygraph
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline (4 years of additional experience may be substituted)
• 12+ years of experience in backend engineering, with strong expertise in Java (especially migrating from Java 8 to Java 17)
• Hands-on experience with pipeline integration and deployment using Jenkins
• Experience with geoserver and geospatial data integration
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and MongoDB

Job description

RGi is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to support the development, integration, and deployment of advanced intelligence capabilities into test and operational environments. You will be a member of a project team responsible for configuring and maintaining backend systems, integrating various tools, and updating core codebases. This role requires strong expertise in Java, geoserver technologies, and experience with pipeline integration and deployment.

Reinventing Geospatial (RGi) is a leading geospatial expert working with Defense, Intelligence, and Federal clients to achieve mission success and solutions for varied mission-critical programs. Projects at RGi span a wide range of software and analytical methodologies and lie at the intersection of software development and geospatial intelligence. We work with soldiers and geospatial analysts to produce solutions that allow them to develop better situational understanding of complex operational pictures. We do everything from data collection to UI/UX development and advanced deep learning, using a broad toolset including Python, C#, and ArcGIS. Our projects include cutting-edge R&D efforts, as well as large mission programs incorporating data processing/optimization, data dissemination techniques, visualization, and collaboration across the commercial and government sectors.

Clearance:

Active Top Secret clearance with an ability to obtain SCI access and willingness to obtain CI Polygraph

As a Senior Backend Engineer you will...

Senior Backend Engineer Qualifications:

• Must have a current/active TS/SCI clearance and be willing to work in a classified environment.
• Willingness to take a hands-on role in backend system integration, deployment, and maintenance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline (4 years of additional experience may be substituted for a degree).
• 12+ years of experience in backend engineering, with strong expertise in Java (particularly experience migrating from Java 8 to Java 17).
• Hands-on experience with pipeline integration and deployment using Jenkins.
• Experience with geoserver and geospatial data integration.
• Familiarity with databases like PostgreSQL and MongoDB.

Additional Skills We'd Like to See:

• Experience with NiFi configuration, workflow development, and deployment.
• Experience with cloud infrastructures and integrating backend systems in hybrid cloud environments.
• Proficiency in Python for scripting, data processing, and automation tasks.
• Understanding of machine learning pipelines and their integration into backend systems.
• Experience with Docker for containerization and deployment in multi-environment systems.
• Ability to guide teams in adopting and optimizing backend technologies for large-scale operations.
