So, what’s the role?

As a Senior Software Engineer - Back End Focus at Kin, you'll develop the products and features that make Kin operate. We run Ruby environments with Typescript front-ends and use PostgreSQL, and we apply Scrum methodologies to our product and software development processes.

In your role, you will have the opportunity to work on more complex engineering problems while collaborating with peers in Dev, Product, QA, and other cross-functional teams. As a senior team member, you'll also have the opportunity to mentor more junior engineers.

A day in the life could include:

1. Writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code in Ruby and occasionally some Python and Typescript
2. Leading pair programming sessions and providing mentorship to more junior team members
3. Driving and fostering design or architectural tasks
4. Participating in daily stands and weekly retros
5. Collaborating with cross-functional team members, including Product and PMO
6. Providing subject matter expertise and support

I’ve got the skills… but do I have the necessary ones?

1. Track record of shipping large, complex software projects
2. Fluid in languages like Ruby, Python, or Typescript
3. Experience with architectural design
4. Ability to articulate value of technical investments
5. Ability to operate with some technical guidance
6. Experience mentoring engineers
7. Familiarity with the front-end and working with modern a Javascript library or framework (React, Vue, Angular)
8. Comfortable in a startup environment – we’re fast-paced, self-motivated, and determined to change the industry
9. A fast learner, ready to bring previous knowledge to this position and continue developing along the way
10. Location in Central or Eastern US time zones (CDT & EDT) strongly preferred
