Job summary

Savvas Learning Company is seeking a senior software engineer to help build scalable educational platforms. You will work with product management to translate business requirements into technical tasks and guide offshore and onshore teams.

You will design and implement microservices in Java 8+ using Spring Boot, REST APIs, and AWS services (ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, S3). Strong problem solving, testing, and mentoring skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s in CS or equivalent with strong fundamentals.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Expert in Java 8+ development and Spring Boot.
• Experience with microservices design and RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on AWS: ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, S3.
• Experience with Docker, CDK, and AWS Fargate.
• Strong JavaScript skills: Angular and Node.js.
• Experience with unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Jasmine).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product management to translate requirements into stories and tasks.
• Conduct research, design, and implementation for short- and long-term needs.
• Evaluate new technologies for feasibility on the platform.
• Deploy and manage cloud-based services on AWS (CodeBuild/CodePipeline, Lambda, ECS, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateway).
• Ensure code meets accessibility, security, OOP, and performance standards.
• Optimize backend performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
• Write and execute unit and integration tests.
• Debug issues across the stack and perform root-cause analysis.
• Mentor team members and collaborate with offshore/onshore teams.
