Root Insurance seeks a Senior Software Engineer for Automotive Partnerships to build integrations with automakers, mobility platforms, and partner tech providers. You will design scalable backend services and APIs across vehicle, cloud, and partner systems, mentor engineers, and help set technical strategy while collaborating with product, design, and external partners.
This role offers exposure to cross-functional challenges at scale in the US, with equity opportunities and a competitive bonus.
Root was founded on the belief that car insurance is broken, and we set out to change it. We're harnessing the power of technology to revolutionize this archaic, complicated industry. Using machine learning and mobile telematic platforms, we've built one of the most innovative insurtech companies in the world.
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Automotive Partnerships team, you'll build the technology that connects our products with leading automakers, mobility platforms, and automotive technology partners. You'll help design and deliver reliable, scalable integrations across vehicle, cloud, and partner systems, turning complex technical and business requirements into seamless customer experiences.
You’ll collaborate closely with product, design, engineering, and external partner teams to define technical strategy, navigate evolving industry standards, and bring new integrations from concept to launch. Beyond writing high-quality code, you'll shape architecture, establish engineering best practices, mentor other engineers, and help partners make sound technical decisions.
This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving ambiguous, cross-functional problems and building durable platforms at the intersection of software, connected vehicles, and strategic partnerships.
$136,500 - $160,000 (Eligible for competitive bonus and equity offering)
