Job summary

RedHat is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to RedHatQuay, designing and implementing features and fixes with Python, Go, Kubernetes, and database technologies. You will collaborate with Product Management and the Quay Engineering team to drive adoption and grow the product.

You will participate in an on-call rotation, review open source contributions, and help maintain quay.io services while delivering robust, maintainable code in a distributed, remote team environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing web applications in Python.
• Experience creating and maintaining Kubernetes Operators written in Go.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, and React.
• Experience with agentic tools (e.g., Claude Code) to deliver working software.
• Proficient with Git and Linux for development.
• Experience packaging applications in containers and deploying to Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with OCI and the Distribution Specification.
• Interest in supporting quay.io and participating in an on-call rotation.
• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• Ability to work remotely in a distributed team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially for complex topics.

Job description

The Quay Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work on RedHatQuay. In this role you will implement features and fixes, using the latest AI agentic tools, that will help to drive adoption and growth in the product. This role will work closely with Product Management and the rest of the Quay Engineering team on a day-to-day basis. The Quay team is highly collaborative and guides top performance in each other through a strong engineering culture, peer accountability, and psychological safety.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new features and functionalities for RedHatQuay, leveraging your expertise in Python, Go, Kubernetes, and database technologies to create maintainable code.

Salary range: $116,270 – $191,840. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.
