Job summary

Domain Money is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own large product and infrastructure projects across our planning platform. You will design systems, ship production software, and raise engineering velocity while working remotely with a West Coast hours bias.

You will build AI features to help CFPs work more efficiently, review code, and mentor engineers and coding agents. You will collaborate with product, design, and leadership to balance customer value, security, and maintainability.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of complex full-stack systems.
• Proficiency in TypeScript, React, Next.js, and Node.js.
• Strong Postgres data modeling and query performance skills.
• Experience deploying and running services on AWS.
• Shipped customer-facing AI features to production.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development and awareness of tool limits.
• Clear technical judgment on architecture, product risk, security, and debt.
• Startup experience and comfort making practical trade-offs with a small team.
• FinTech or financial services experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own major product and platform initiatives from problem definition through design, implementation, rollout, and operation.
• Turn product requirements into simple technical plans and make the trade-offs explicit.
• Break large projects into shippable increments, define scope with product and business stakeholders, and release secure, tested code behind feature flags.
• Design AI features with clear evaluation criteria, privacy boundaries, human review paths, and monitoring.
• Improve reliability and performance through test automation, observability, and CI/CD.
• Keep our applications secure, with the access control, auditability, and data handling that client financial data requires.
• Work closely with product, design, financial planners, and leadership to make technical decisions that balance client value, compliance, speed, and long-term maintainability.
• Be a force multiplier for the engineers and coding agents you work with, through code review, pairing, and improving the skills, context, and workflows our agents rely on.

The Role: Senior Software Engineer At Domain Money

We're looking for a full-stack Senior Software Engineer to own large product and infrastructure projects across our planning platform, for our clients and the financial planners who serve them. You'll work directly with our executive team and senior leadership as you design systems, ship production software, and raise the quality and velocity of the engineering team.

You'll build AI features that help our CFPs work more efficiently and serve their clients better, and you'll use AI in your own work every day. The field changes month to month, so we expect you to keep current on your own and share what you learn across product and engineering. You'll make the engineers around you better through code review and pairing, and do the same for our coding and review agents.

The role is remote, with a strong preference for West Coast hours, and reports directly to our VP of Engineering.

What will set you apart

• Financial services or FinTech experience is a plus.

Rather than sixty pages of statistics and charts, our plans are highly readable and give clients clear actionable steps based on their stated goals and what is achievable based on their lifestyle. Utilizing our unique proprietary technology, our AI platform is able to turn a client's documents into a highly personalized financial plan.

In addition to financial planning, we provide tax planning and filing services, estate planning and investment management services. We offer investment management through the custodian, Altruist.
