Job summary

Vectra AI, a leader in AI-driven threat detection, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to evolve our REST API platform and support MCP-enabled workflows. You will design scalable backend services, define API contracts, and collaborate across product, security, data science, and partner teams to deliver secure, observable, and high-performance solutions.

The role emphasizes ownership, pragmatic technical judgment, and mentoring while operating in a Unix/Linux environment.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of professional software engineering with backend or platform focus.
• Proven experience designing, building, and operating production REST APIs at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable REST APIs and backend services that support customer-facing security workflows.
• Define API contracts, data-access patterns, authentication and authorization approaches, and lifecycle/versioning strategies.
• Design how MCP clients and servers securely interact with REST APIs, tools, and data sources.
• Build reliable, observable, and high-performance services for AI-assisted experiences.
• Work with cross-functional teams to turn ambiguous requirements into durable technical solutions.
• Establish engineering standards through reviews, documentation, and mentorship.
• Guide less-experienced engineers and foster a culture of ownership and feedback.
• Partner with security teams to ensure secure-by-default practices.
