Job summary

Western Governors University is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and implement software applications and services. You will mentor junior engineers, lead initiatives, and collaborate with operations to ensure reliability and performance across platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with 6 years of software development experience
• Experience with web-based applications and web services using Java, REST, ServiceNow, and related technologies
• Equivalent relevant experience may substitute for education requirements (1 year per 1 year of education)

Responsibilities

• Act as an expert in assigned areas of software engineering and mentor junior engineers to improve effectiveness.
• Maintain accountability for quality of services and success of projects in scope, on time and on budget.
• Contribute as a lead or consultant for at least one team; serve as a go-to person in a sub-discipline or application area.
• Mentor team members through formal and informal guidance during meetings and problem solving; communicate effectively with other disciplines to identify and resolve problems.
• Lead teams or cross-functional groups in knowledge transfer through formal or informal means (presentations, white papers, etc.).
