Product Engineering is responsible for Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms, including product engineering, media engineering, quality assurance, personalization, commerce, lifecycle, and identity.

Job Summary:

We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Android team. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, collaborative, and technical, with the ability to coordinate across teams and empower others. This role directly impacts millions of global consumers and our business.

Responsibilities and Duties:

The Disney eXperience Composer is a bespoke solution for serving interactive experiences via Disney Markup Language (DML). The successful candidate will:

  • Participate in the specification and design of DML in collaboration with other engineers.
  • Design, implement, and test features to expand Renderer capabilities based on DML.
  • Support integration of Renderer with Client engineers across Disney’s streaming brands.
Basic Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in front-end application development, proficient in Kotlin with low memory footprint.
  • Leadership skills, problem-solving ability, eagerness to learn and teach new technologies.
  • Experience building consumer-facing interactive experiences.
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals.
  • Extensive experience with Android development ecosystem.
  • Experience developing sophisticated user interfaces.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in video playback and renderer technologies.
  • Experience with web-service backed applications.
  • Experience with international product launches.
  • Strong Scrum methodology experience.
Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

Compensation:

The salary range varies by location, e.g., Los Angeles: $138,900 - $186,200, San Francisco: $152,100 - $203,900, New York/Seattle: $145,400 - $195,000. Actual offer depends on region, experience, and other factors. Benefits include bonuses, incentives, and comprehensive health and financial packages.
