The LDAP Core and Switchboard teams are part of the AFSS Identity organization within Amazon's Foundational Security Services. We hold the records of engineering identity at Amazon, and we make that record reachable through modern access pattern.

LDAP Core operates the canonical engineering identity directory: the 389DS LDAP fleet, its global replication topology, and the regionalized architecture (REGAL) we are building to replace it by 2027. Switchboard builds the routing, temporal, analytical, and control layers that surround that directory the Read Proxy, Time Machine, the Identity Data Lake, and GSAM, the control plane for millions of system accounts across Amazon's engineering data planes.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead the REGAL regionalized architecture: read/write fleet split, Regal Replicator, and ORR through full partition coverage
  • Own 389DS software lifecycle: upgrade train, master fleet replication, schema management across commercial, GovCloud, ADC, China, and MVP
