Job summary

Human Interest is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build industry-first retirement solutions for employers and participants. You will design, implement, and scale reliable, observable systems while collaborating with domain experts.

You will lead initiatives that impact the entire platform, including AI-enhanced development practices. The role emphasizes ownership, mentorship, and strong communication across teams, with a focus on startups and fintech experience.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering in production.
• Proficiency with Node, TypeScript, Kotlin, React, AWS, PostgreSQL, Kafka.
• Experience using AI coding assistants to accelerate development and improve quality.
• Excellent communication with engineers and non-engineers.
• Mentor other engineers and review code critically.
• Past work in startups or fintech is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain user experiences for external and internal customers.
• Develop business-critical services that form the data funnel of the platform.
• Improve complex processes to reduce human intervention.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to share knowledge and expertise.
• Own domains within the system and make informed engineering tradeoffs.
• Advocate for and delight both internal and external users.
• Guide AI agents across the development lifecycle and drive architectural decisions.
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive work with AI tooling.
