Job summary

GEICO is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Underwriting Automation Team. You will help transform insurance tech by designing and deploying core experiences with API-first design, focusing on scalability and production readiness.

The role spans from API and microservice development to integration across front-end and back-end components in a hybrid cloud setup, leveraging GraphQL, gRPC, Java, Python, and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 4+ years full-stack development experience with client- and server-side frameworks.
• Experience in API-first engineering, service orchestration, event-driven architecture and real-time APIs.
• Proficiency in Java and at least one other language such as C#, Python; OO design.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes and building SAAS scale systems.
• Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases; schema evolution and high-performance APIs.

Responsibilities

• Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems.
• Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle.
• Participate in design sessions and code reviews to raise engineering quality.
• Develop APIs and microservices using GraphQL and gRPC with API-first design.
• Use Java, C#, SQL and NoSQL, deploying in a hybrid cloud with Kubernetes.
• Deliver End-to-End solutions across front-end to back-end services.
