Job summary

NextGear Capital is seeking a Manager, Data Engineering to lead a cross-functional team responsible for data pipelines, transformation platforms, and analytics infrastructure powering floor plan lending operations.

As Cox Automotive evolves toward AI-assisted, spec-driven development, you will guide your team through this transformation, championing specification quality and ensuring AI-generated code meets engineering standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with at least 6 years of experience.
1+ year of experience in management or a lead role.
Hands-on with AI coding assistants as a core part of the development workflow.
Experience with spec-driven development workflows and RFC/ ADR-driven practices.
Experience reviewing AI-generated code for quality, security, and architectural compliance.
Experience with modern software engineering practices (CI/CD, code review, observability).
Available for rotational on-call duties outside standard hours.

Responsibilities

Build and lead a cross-functional data engineering team and mentor engineers.
Oversee end-to-end data pipelines, transformations, and analytics services across Azure, AWS, and Snowflake.
Ensure secure, well-tested, scalable data systems aligned to architecture.
Champion spec-driven development workflows with detailed Change Specs before code generation.
Maintain component constitutions and context packs for AI-assisted code generation.
Partner with product managers and platform teams to deliver against roadmaps.
Drive experimentation with AI coding workflows and share patterns across the org.
