Job summary

Aurora is seeking a Software Engineer for the Map Build's Geometric Generation team to design and own 3D map-generation algorithms that convert lidar logs into automated offline maps. You will tackle large-scale pose-graph optimization, registration and multi-modal alignment to support Aurora Driver as it expands to new routes.

This role requires strong C++ expertise and 6+ years of experience with 3D geometry and SLAM; you will collaborate across teams to optimize performance and ensure data

Qualifications

• BS, MS or PhD in CS, Robotics, EE or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of professional software development in C++.
• 3D geometry and lidar/point-cloud processing experience.
• Strong knowledge of linear algebra, transforms, optimization.
• Experience debugging large data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and own geometric map-generation algorithms, including sensor optimization and pose-graph optimization.
• Identify and build systems that are robust to failure; root-cause and ship fixes with measurable success.
• Improve runtime and scalability of large-scale distributed map-build pipelines.
• Collaborate with neighboring teams on data contracts and integration requirements.
