Job summary

iVisa is seeking a Senior Engineer to take technical ownership of core areas of our internal and external web platforms. You will set the standard for code quality, shape architectural decisions, and mentor developers while shipping scalable solutions for travelers worldwide.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional web development experience with PHP and a modern framework (Laravel strongly preferred).
• Deep PHP – PHP 8 features, DI, testing, and maintainable code.
• Database fluency – schema design, query plans, production performance.
• Infrastructure awareness – Docker, cloud services (AWS preferred), CI/CD.
• Kubernetes and Argo experience is a plus.
• Mentor mindset – provide constructive feedback and coaching.
• Strong communication – explain trade-offs to engineers and product managers.
• Self-starter with remote work experience and fluent English.

As a Senior Engineer at iVisa, you will make an impact by:

• Architect & Build – Design and deliver new features and services, making sound technical decisions around structure, data modeling, and long-term maintainability.
• Technical Leadership – Lead design discussions, evaluate trade-offs, and drive alignment on how we solve problems across the stack.
• Mentorship & Code Review – Raise the bar for the team through thorough code reviews, pair programming, and hands‑on coaching of mid‑level and junior developers.
• Performance & Scalability – Profile, optimize, and refactor existing systems to handle growing traffic and data volume without compromising reliability.
• System & User Requirements – Partner with product managers and designers to scope work, challenge assumptions, and translate business goals into technical plans.
• Reliability & Security – Own the stability and security of the platforms you work on, from debugging production issues to hardening against common vulnerabilities.
• Continuous Improvement – Identify weak points in our tooling, testing, and deployment processes, and lead the effort to fix them.

What makes you a great fit for this role:

• 5+ years of professional web development experience, with significant time spent in PHP and a modern framework (Laravel strongly preferred).
• Depth in modern PHP – You're comfortable with PHP 8 features, dependency injection, testing, and writing code that other people can safely change.
• Database fluency – You can design a sane schema, read a query plan, and diagnose why something got slow in production.
• Infrastructure awareness – Practical experience with Docker, cloud services (AWS preferred), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Kubernetes and Argo experience is a plus – Not required, but familiarity with container orchestration and GitOps‑style deployment workflows will stand out.
• A mentor's instinct – You give clear, constructive feedback and enjoy helping other developers get better.
• Strong communication – You can explain a technical trade‑off to an engineer and to a product manager, and be understood by both.
• A self‑starter – You take initiative, work independently, and thrive in a remote environment.
• Fluent English is a must!
