Job summary

Warner Bros. Discovery's Avalanche division seeks a Senior UI/UX Engineer to join our Salt Lake City team, building high-quality, data-driven UI for an online multiplayer RPG using Unreal Engine.

You will collaborate with engineering, UI/UX design, and art leadership to create extensible interfaces for a live game environment. You will implement UI systems, translate designs into pixel-accurate in-game interfaces, and ensure performance and accessibility.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, working on cross-functional teams.
  • Experience implementing UI/UX in Unreal Engine, preferably UE5 (UMG and/or Slate).
  • Experience on at least one published game title or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in C++ (Templates, Exception Handling, Multi-Threading, etc.).
  • Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Strong understanding of UI architecture patterns (MVVM/MVC), data binding, layout, and state management.
  • Solid grasp of UI performance (draw-call/batching considerations) and memory on constrained platforms.
  • A keen eye for visual detail, animation, and interaction polish.
  • Strong problem solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement key UI/UX systems and features in Unreal Engine (UMG/Slate), with a focus on extensible, data-driven architecture to support online, evolving interfaces in a live environment.
  • Work closely with UI/UX designers and artists to translate wireframes, mockups, and interaction designs into performant, pixel-accurate in-game interfaces.
  • Work closely with the project engineering team to architect and develop high-quality, responsive, and accessible UI code.
  • Participate in all parts of the development process from concept through to live-ops .
  • Build and maintain reusable UI widgets, components, and tooling that empower designers and artists to iterate quickly.
  • Perform peer code reviews and champion a high standard of code excellence.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on new UI features.
  • Work with design and product teams on feature viability, costing, design completeness, and risk assessment.

The Job

Avalanche, a division of WB Games Inc., is seeking a Senior UI/UX Engineer to join our team of talented industry veterans working on a new online multiplayer RPG. This person will work closely with project engineering, UI/UX design, and art leadership to build high-quality, extensible user-interface features for an online multiplayer RPG.

What do we need from you?

  • Demonstrable experience implementing UI/UX in Unreal Engine, preferably UE5 (UMG and/or Slate).
  • Experience on at least one successfully-published game title or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or a related field) or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency in C++ (Templates, Exception Handling, Multi-Threading, etc.).
  • Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Strong understanding of UI architecture patterns (MVVM/MVC), data binding, layout, and state management.
  • Solid grasp of UI performance (draw-call/batching considerations) and memory on constrained platforms.

Good to Have
  • Hands-on experience with Unreal's Common UI, MVVM/View Model plugin, UMG animation, and Slate.
  • Experience supporting multiple input methods (gamepad, keyboard/mouse, touch) plus controller focus/navigation.
  • Experience with localization, font/text rendering, and UI accessibility.
  • A passion for online multiplayer RPGs and deep experience with online games.
