About the Job

CardioOne is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead and scale a high-performing backend and DevOps engineering team. In this pivotal role, you'll drive the delivery of scalable, secure, and reliable software systems that power our innovative virtual care platform. As a seasoned technical leader, you’ll be responsible for setting engineering best practices, guiding architectural decisions, and mentoring developers. This is a role with hands-on involvement in shaping product delivery, technical execution, and team growth as the company scales and will grow into a leadership position as the organization scales. You will report directly to the Director of Software Engineering.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of applications, from development through deployment and operation
  • Guide the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable backend services, APIs, and microservices that support our platform and integrations with healthcare systems.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, following best practices in software engineering and design patterns.
  • Conduct code reviews and mentor junior engineers to ensure code quality and technical excellence
  • Review code, design, and deployment strategies to ensure best practices, code quality and technical excellence

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with increasing responsibility
  • 3+ years in a technical leadership or engineering management role

Technical Skills:

  • Strong expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and services like EC2, Lambda, S3, Docker, ECS, elastic etc.
  • Strong backend development background, with expertise in Java and/or Python
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Terragrunt) and CI/CD tools such as GitLab
  • Strong knowledge of monitoring, alerting, and observability tools
  • Proven experience building and deploying microservices and managing containerized applications
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and departments.
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.

  • Proven ability to lead and manage engineering teams, promoting innovation and driving technical excellence.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage relationships across technical and non-technical teams

Nice to have :

  • Experience with frontend technologies (React is a plus)
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, PHI handling, or other healthcare specific security standards

Additional Information

Full-time base salary range of $125,000 to $140,000 dependent on relevant years of experience. This role will include medical, dental, and vision benefits along with a matching 401K.
