About the Team:

We're a small, fast-moving team building the recruiting infrastructure that powers how companies find and hire people. Our stack is Python + FastAPI on the backend with React frontends. The code you write goes directly into the hands of recruiters - real users, real impact, no layers of abstraction between you and the outcome.

We're building a traditional application to help recruiters source candidates, and layering agentic AI capabilities on top of that foundation. It's an early, high-ownership environment where your decisions shape the product.

The Role:

We're hiring one Senior Backend Engineer to own and drive meaningful initiatives end-to-end. This isn't a ticket-taker role. You'll scope work, make the calls, navigate tradeoffs, gather feedback, ship to production, and maintain what you build - collaborating with a small team throughout.

1. End-to-end ownership. You can drive a medium-sized initiative from requirements to production with minimal hand-holding. You unblock yourself, communicate tradeoffs clearly, gather feedback on your plans, and ship. You take long-term responsibility for what you build.
2. Agentic coding fluency. You use AI coding tools - Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or equivalent - every single day. You have real opinions about what works and what doesn't. This is how our team operates, and we expect you to operate the same way.

What You Bring:

• 4-8 years of backend engineering experience. What you've shipped matters more than your title or years on paper.
• Generalist application engineer - primarily backend, but comfortable jumping to the frontend or data layer when needed. You've shipped major projects used by paying customers.
• Backend technologies - strong engineers learn fast; proficiency in any backend stack is the baseline. Experience withPython, FastAPI, or Nodeis a plus.
• Product sense - you've worked on user-facing surfaces and have genuine opinions about them.
• Strong ownership, independence, curiosity, and a collaborative mindset.
• Background - you've likely worked at companies like Indeed, Atlassian, Amazon, Google, Apple, or Meta, and you're ready to trade some of that comp ceiling for real ownership and impact.

Bonus points:

• Startup experience where you owned a domain, paired with big-company engineering rigor.
• Background inHR tech or the recruiting domain.
