Job summary

The Ash Group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (12-month contract) for a client in Sterling Heights, MI. This onsite role offers a pay rate up to $58/hr and requires leadership of the software lifecycle from requirements through testing, with a focus on embedded systems and cybersecurity coordination.

The successful candidate will have a STEM degree and 4+ years of real-time embedded software development or testing, plus experience guiding a team and adhering to formal software processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM field required.
• Minimum of 4 years of real-time embedded software development and/or software testing experience; can be 2 years with a master's degree.
• Experience providing technical direction to a team of developers.
• Familiarity with software engineering processes and CMMI.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the software engineering lifecycle: estimating, planning, requirements analysis, architecture, design, implementation, and unit testing.
• Coordinate with the Software Architect to meet customer requirements and secure approvals.
• Lead collaborative problem-solving and resolve conflicts between subsystems to optimize performance, quality, and cost.
• Ensure cybersecurity efforts are coordinated within the software domain and manage project performance and EVMS metrics.
• Plan software project schedules and builds to align with product timelines.

Summary

The Ash Group is hiring a Senior Software Engineer (24722) for our client, a global leader providing advanced systems and support in defense, aerospace, and security. This is a 12-month contract position working in Sterling Heights, MI (Onsite). We are offering a pay rate up to $58/hr, based on skill set.

• Compensation: Up to $58/hr W2 based on skill set

What You’ll Be Doing

• Oversee the associated software engineering lifecycle, including estimating, planning, requirements analysis, architecture, design, implementation, unit testing, hardware/software integration, and range testing.
• Evaluate software requirements for consistency with higher level performance goals, customer needs, and contractual Statements of Work.
• Coordinate with the Software Architect to ensure technical outcomes meet customer requirements and secure necessary approvals from Functional Management.
• Lead collaborative problem-solving and resolve conflicts between subsystems or disciplines to optimize system performance, quality, and cost.
• Ensure all Cybersecurity efforts are properly coordinated within the software domain. Project and Performance Management
• Monitor and control technical, cost, and schedule performance implementing corrective actions as needed to keep efforts on track.
• Oversee Control Accounts or Work Packages, providing periodic estimates at complete (EAC) to support the EVMS reporting.
• Plan software project schedules and builds to align with overall product development timelines.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience providing technical direction to a team of developers.
• Practical knowledge and experience with applicable software engineering processes
• Familiarity with Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) and Software Life Cycle Management
• Working knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and Control Account Manager/Work Package Manager duties.
• Contemporary design/development experience.
