Job summary

CNH Industrial is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead software development projects, design and implement solutions, and ensure code quality on Linux platforms. You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to technical strategy, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software.

You will write modern C++ for video streaming components, participate in architecture decisions, conduct reviews, and drive new technical initiatives with PoCs.

Job Purpose

A Senior Software Engineer is responsible for leading software development projects, designing and implementing solutions, and ensuring code quality. They also mentor junior engineers, contribute to technical strategy, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Their role involves a mix of technical expertise and leadership to drive the development of high-quality software

Key Responsibilities

• Own the development, testing, and integration of new software components.
• Contribute to the architecture of high-performance video streaming applications on Linux.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable modern C++ code with a focus on performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Conduct code reviews and promote engineering best practices across the team.
• Lead new technical initiatives by research appropriate frameworks or libraries and create proofs of concept.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Experience Required

• Experienced engineer with 5+ years of career experience, with Bachelor’s degree. 3+ years experience with Masters degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities.
• Capable of defining appropriate approaches and solutions.
• Furthers knowledge of profession through continued education and/or seeking or providing mentorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Deep proficiency in C/C++ on Linux, with extensive experience in multithreading, synchronization, and low-level performance profiling.
• Hands-on experience with video streaming protocols, GStreamer, FFmpeg, or custom V4L2/DRM/KMS Linux media pipelines.
• Direct experience interfacing software with hardware blocks (GPUs, ISPs, VPU codecs) for scaling, rotation, color conversion, and H.264 encode/decode.
• Strong background in DMA buffers (DMA-BUF), shared memory architectures, and middleware communication frameworks such as FastDDS or similar DDS implementations for high-speed IPC.
• Experience with Yocto, custom kernel module integration, device trees, and board bring-up.

Pay Transparency

The annual salary for this role is USD $106,725.00 - $163,645.00 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)

For roles open across multiple locations, the salary range indicated refers to the primary location. If a different location is considered, the applicable salary range will be communicated to candidates prior to the first interview.
