Job summary

Roku, Inc. is seeking a senior software engineer to design, develop and deploy scalable web applications and services. You will drive architecture discussions, own new projects, and deliver high-quality software within tight timelines.

Collaborate with security teams to meet compliance and audit requirements while advancing engineering tools and cloud-based technologies. Strong cross-functional communication and Agile participation are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 10 years of progressive experience in the position or a related occupation.
• Delivery of multi-tier, highly scalable, distributed web applications.
• Software architecture, object-oriented design principles, and data structures.
• Developing microservices using Java, Spring, Python and CI/CD.
• Experience in SQL and NoSQL including Oracle database design.
• AWS Cloud including EC2, S3, RDS, SQS, VPC, and Elastic Cache.
• Google Cloud including Cloud Datastore, Cloud Storage, and Pub/Sub.

What you'll be doing

• Design, develop and deploy scalable web applications and services, being part of everything from contributing to web technology and framework stack, to use case and data model design.
• Drive architecture discussions, take ownership and responsibility over new projects, and deliver high quality software with tight timeline.
• Partner with security and compliance teams to ensure the application meets compliance, security and audit requirements.
• Participate in the continual improvement of engineering tools, cloud-based technologies/services, and process.
• Define and participate in Agile development process, including scoping, technical design, estimation effort, coding, testing, debugging, code reviews, maintenance and support.
• Collaborate with cross-function teams and demonstrate great communication skills.

You are required to have

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 10 years of progressive experience in the position or a related occupation.
• Must have at least 1 year of prior work experience in the following:
  1. Delivery of multi-tier, highly scalable, distributed web applications.
  2. Software architecture, object-oriented design principles, and data structures.
  3. Developing microservices using the following: Java, Spring, Python and CI/CD.
  4. Experience in SQL and NoSQL including Oracle database design.
  5. AWS Cloud including the following: EC2, S3, RDS, SQS, VPC, and Elastic Cache.
  6. Google Cloud including Cloud Datastore, Cloud Storage, and Pub/Sub.

Up to one day per week telecommuting may be permitted.

For California Only - The annual salary for this position is $425,000 - $537,200

Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location.

This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.
