Job summary

Prosum is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own backend and frontend development for an AI-enabled ecommerce platform. This fully remote role in the United States offers a direct-hire path and a compensation range of $150k–$200k per year.

The ideal candidate will lead architecture decisions, build scalable services with React and Node.js, and apply AI tools to accelerate delivery while upholding security, testing, and observability standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience, ownership of production systems
• Strong React experience, architecture, performance optimization, and state management
• Strong Node.js experience building and operating production services/APIs
• Advanced SQL skills including schema design, indexing, and data integrity
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and secure, observable architectures

Responsibilities

• Own development and architecture: design, build, deploy, and maintain complex apps using React, Node.js and SQL.
• Deliver features end-to-end from requirements to deployment with minimal oversight.
• Leverage Claude Code or similar AI tools to accelerate development with rigorous reviews.
• Develop AI agents, LLM integrations, and automated workflows.
• Manage integrations with ERP, payments, CRM, and third-party services.
• Own cloud infra, databases, deployments, CI/CD, security, monitoring.
• Establish engineering standards with documentation and maintainable code.
• Support marketing analytics, conversion tracking, and technical SEO.
• Monitor customer experience, diagnose issues, and resolve post-release problems.
• Drive technical direction and reduce tech debt; mentor engineers.

About the Opportunity We are seeking an exceptional, hands-on Senior Software Engineer to take technical ownership of a sophisticated e-commerce platform and help build the next generation of AI-powered business applications. The organization is nearing completion of a major platform rebuild and needs a highly capable engineer to help guide the transition, take ownership of the new environment, and drive future development. This is a highly independent, backend-focused role requiring strong technical judgment, architectural expertise, and the ability to deliver production-ready solutions with minimal oversight. You'll work closely with an existing technical lead during the transition and progressively assume responsibility for software architecture, development, infrastructure, and technical execution, with the opportunity to eventually lead additional developers. Key Responsibilities* **Own Development & Architecture:** Design, build, deploy, and maintain complex applications using React, Node.js, and SQL, with a strong emphasis on backend systems.* **Deliver Independently:** Take medium-to-large features from requirements through technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and post-launch monitoring with minimal oversight.* **Leverage AI Development Tools:** Use Claude Code or comparable AI-assisted development tools to accelerate development while maintaining rigorous code review, testing, and security practices.* **Develop AI Solutions:** Build custom AI agents, LLM integrations, and automated workflows across internal systems and customer-facing applications.* **Manage Integrations:** Develop and maintain integrations with enterprise financial systems, payment platforms, CRM applications, and third-party services.* **Own Infrastructure:** Oversee cloud infrastructure, databases, deployments, CI/CD, security, monitoring, backups, and application performance.* **Establish Engineering Standards:** Produce modular, well-tested, maintainable code, technical design documents, and clear documentation.* **Support Marketing & Conversion Optimization:** Collaborate with marketing stakeholders to improve website analytics, conversion tracking, technical SEO, advertising integrations, and customer journey monitoring.* **Optimize Customer Experience:** Implement monitoring solutions to identify customer drop-offs, detect website issues, and quickly resolve problems following releases or updates.* **Solve Complex Problems:** Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement reliable, long-term solutions.* **Drive Technical Direction:** Recommend architectural improvements, eliminate technical debt, and establish scalable engineering practices.* **Lead & Collaborate:** Work independently, communicate progress effectively, collaborate with business stakeholders, and potentially help lead a growing engineering team.Required Qualifications* 5+ years of professional software development experience, including ownership of production systems from design through deployment.* Strong React experience, including application architecture, performance optimization, and state management.* Strong Node.js experience building and operating production services and APIs.* Advanced SQL skills, including schema design, query optimization, indexing, and data integrity.* Proven ability to architect solutions, solve complex problems, and deliver projects independently.* Expert-level, judgment-driven use of Claude Code or comparable AI-assisted development tools.* Strong understanding of testing, secure development, CI/CD, observability, and maintainable software architecture.* Experience creating technical design documents and clear, team-ready documentation.* Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and collaborate with business stakeholders.* Strong communication, accountability, and organizational skills in a remote environment.Preferred Qualifications* Microsoft Azure architecture, including PaaS, serverless, Key Vault, networking/WAF, and monitoring.* Experience with insurance, payments, e-commerce, fintech, or other regulated transactional platforms.* Familiarity with SOC 1, SOC 2, PCI DSS, or SOX compliance environments.* Experience building production AI agents, LLM integrations, and business process automation.* Experience integrating NetSuite or other enterprise financial systems.* Legacy application modernization and complex platform migrations.* Production incident response and advanced observability tooling.Why Join?
