Job description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and implement advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms for high-throughput signal exploitation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in DSP algorithm development, RF software, C++, Linux, and Python, with experience developing algorithms for challenging signal environments, including low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), higher-order modulation, and adaptive modulation.

This position requires a strong foundation in modern software engineering practices, the ability to work in highly collaborative Agile environments, and a commitment to developing resilient, secure, and reliable solutions for complex operational challenges. Successful candidates are passionate about solving difficult technical problems while delivering capabilities that have real-world mission impact. This position will support a mission-focused customer during the full life-cycle development of a Radio Frequency Processing System.

This role is based in Hanover, Maryland.

Eligible candidates may receive a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000, making this an exceptional opportunity to join a mission-critical team supporting national security initiatives.

What will you do?

  • Design, develop, implement, test, and optimize advanced DSP algorithms in software.

  • Develop algorithms supporting high-throughput signal exploitation and processing.

  • Develop signal-processing solutions for challenging environments involving:

    • Low Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR)

    • Higher-order modulation

    • Adaptive modulation

    • Complex RF signals

  • Develop and maintain software using C++, Python, Linux, and related development technologies.

  • Translate DSP concepts, mathematical models, and signal-processing requirements into operational software.

  • Modify existing software and/or firmware to meet specialized system and mission requirements.

  • Adapt and integrate Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) products to meet Government requirements.

  • Analyze and optimize DSP algorithms for performance, throughput, accuracy, and efficiency.

  • Support the integration of developed algorithms into larger RF and signal-processing systems.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve software, algorithm, and signal-processing performance issues.

  • Develop models and algorithms for processing and exploiting signals of interest.

  • Clearly document developed algorithms, models, assumptions, and processing methodologies.

  • Provide concise technical explanations of algorithms and models so other engineers can understand, maintain, integrate, and utilize developed solutions.

  • Collaborate with software, RF, systems, and other engineering disciplines throughout the development and integration lifecycle.

Do you have what it takes?

  • TS/SCI with Poly required.

  • Must be a US Citizen.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline with an emphasis on DSP algorithms from an accredited college or university.

  • A Master of Science in Engineering or Computer Science may substitute for two years of required experience.

  • 7+ years of experience as a DSP Algorithm Developer on projects involving similar software development processes.

  • 7+ years of development experience using C++, Linux, Python, or similar development technologies.

  • Formal training in or demonstrated proficiency with C++ and Linux.

  • Strong understanding of Digital Signal Processing algorithms and techniques.

  • Experience designing and implementing DSP algorithms in software.

  • Experience developing algorithms for RF and signal-processing applications.

  • Experience with high-throughput signal processing and exploitation.

  • Experience working with challenging signal environments, including low SNR, higher-order, and/or adaptive modulation.

  • Ability to communicate complex mathematical, DSP, and algorithmic concepts to other technical team members.
