Job summary

Assembly, Inc. is seeking a senior software engineer to report to the CTO and lead complex technical projects within the engineering and product teams.

You will mentor juniors, shape the engineering roadmap, and help define the engineering culture while following security best practices. You'll design and build full-stack features for our web platform, oversee libraries and the design system, and own responsibilities from architecture to testing.

Job description

As a senior software engineer you will report to the CTO and be a core member of our engineering and product team. In this role you’ll lead complex technical projects, mentor junior team members, improve velocity through better process, shape the engineering roadmap, and help define our engineering culture. What you'll do

You'll design and build full stack features. You'll be working on scaling and enhancing our web platform, our flagship product. This involves overseeing the libraries we use, managing the component/design system architecture, and building the most robust testable features.

You'll be an owner. You'll work with EPD (engineering/product/design) leads team to help shape the roadmap. You’ll also be responsible for writing technical documentation, setting up infrastructure, and organizing engineering tasks.

You'll balance the short and long term. While knowing the importance of shipping quickly you also know how to craft thoughtful long-term technical strategy. You know when to address tech debt and when to improve infrastructure and processes (testing, code reviews, CI/CD).

You’ll make the engineering team more effective. You’ll help us implement better processes, refine our interview process, and help define our engineering culture.

You'll follow security best practices. You will be responsible for safeguarding customer data, following secure coding guidelines, and adhering to Assembly’s security, confidentiality, and data protection policies as part of your work. You’ll help ensure that systems, code, and infrastructure are developed and maintained in alignment with our security standards.

You'll help build the team. The first 10 members of an engineering team dictate the next 100. You'll help interview and recruit more talented engineers.

You'll learn about startups. Aside from your core work, you'll have the opportunity to get involved in other areas - marketing, growth, ops, etc.
