Job summary

Intec Select is partnering with a proprietary trading firm to hire a Senior Software Engineer (Desk Side) for hybrid work in Chicago, NYC, Greenwich, Houston, and Austin. The role focuses on building scalable, low-latency production systems for FICC and delta one desk technologies, collaborating closely with traders.

Candidates should bring 2+ years in Python, Java, C++, and TypeScript, with strong problem-solving, risk awareness, and communication skills for a dynamic financial environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience with Python, Java, C++, and multi-language work experience across domains.
• Directly worked with end customers to scope and deliver production systems in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
• Ability to dive deep into problems, create intuitive understandings, and manage risk and complexity.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with traders to turn alpha signals, risk management, and market visualizations into scalable, reliable production systems.
• Own your products from prototype to stable production, delivering maintainable solutions.
• Embed with trading desks to extract domain models and build ergonomic, high-performance engineering solutions.
• Build, maintain, and extend the central trading platform across greenfield and legacy systems.

Senior Software Engineer (Desk Side) - $200,000 - $300,000 ($500,000 TC) – Hybrid (Chicago, NYC, Greenwich, Houston) – Proprietary Trading Firm

Overview:

We are currently partnered with a leading Prop Trading Firm based in the US who’s FICC (Fixed Income, Currencies & Commodities) team is looking for an outstanding Senior Software Engineer with diverse technical skills to work directly with some of the highest performing desks within the organisation.

You will work with traders to turn alpha signals, risk management, market visualizations and other trading-critical tools into scalable, performant and reliable production systems.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Work with best-in-class trading tools for a collection of FICC options trading desks
• Take full ownership of the products you create, from prototype to stable production
• Embed with trading desks, learn about their problem spaces, extract domain models, and build ergonomic, performant and extendable engineering solutions
• Build, maintain and extend the central trading platform
• Work with both greenfield and legacy systems across multiple languages (Python, Java, C++, Typescript)

Requirements:

• A minimum of 2+ years’ experience using Python, Java, C++, and can work comfortably in multiple programming languages
• A track record of working directly with end customers, scoping and delivering production systems in fast-moving and ambiguous environments
• Ability to dive deep into complex problems, develop intuitive understandings, spot risks early, and minimize complexity
• Exceptional interpersonal skills - you communicate clearly with stakeholders as well as other engineers, fostering a collaborative, supportive working environment.
• Experience in the financial markets, especially in delta one store of value and/or FICC options trading
• Experience with linux-based, concurrent, high-throughput, low-latency software systems
• Experience with functional programming is a plus
• Have a Bachelors or advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, or equivalent work experience

Package:

• $200,000 - $300,000 Basic Salary
• $300,000 - $500,000 Total Compensation
• Hybrid in one of the following locations (NYC, Greenwich, Chicago, Houston, Austin)
