Job summary

Attentive is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of backend engineers building scalable, reliable systems for our AI-powered marketing platform. You’ll balance people leadership, technical direction, and execution while partnering closely with Product and other engineering teams to deliver meaningful customer and business outcomes.

You’ll develop and grow a high-performing team, guide technical and architectural decisions, and create clarity around complex initiatives.

Qualifications

• 2+ years leading software engineers and 7+ years in software engineering.
• Backend, distributed systems, APIs, data modeling, scalable architecture.
• Experience building/operating high-volume production systems with reliability and performance.
• Ability to guide technical/architectural tradeoffs and lead complex initiatives end-to-end.
• Experience hiring, coaching, feedback, and career development for engineers.
• Strong cross-functional communication with Engineering, Product, and stakeholders.
• Experience using modern practices and AI-powered tools to improve productivity and quality.

About The Role

Attentive is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of backend engineers building the scalable, reliable systems that power our platform. You’ll balance people leadership, technical direction, and execution while partnering closely with Product and other engineering teams to deliver meaningful customer and business outcomes.

You’ll develop and grow a high-performing team, guide technical and architectural decisions, and create clarity around complex initiatives. You’ll help ensure our systems and engineering practices evolve as Attentive continues to scale.

What You’ll Accomplish

• 2+ years of experience managing software engineers and 7+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong technical foundation in backend engineering, distributed systems, APIs, data modeling, and scalable application architecture
• Experience building and operating high-volume production systems with a focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability
• Proven ability to guide technical and architectural decisions, evaluate tradeoffs, and lead complex initiatives from design through production
• Experience hiring, coaching, providing feedback, managing performance, and developing engineers at different stages of their careers
• Strong cross-functional communication skills with the ability to create clarity and alignment across Engineering, Product, and other stakeholders
• Experience using modern development practices and AI-powered engineering tools to improve team productivity and software quality

• The US base salary range for this full-time position is $210,000 - $240,000 annually + equity + benefits
• Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location
