We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in Python, Microsoft Azure, distributed systems, and production-grade AI applications. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience building, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting mission‑critical systems at scale.
This role requires an engineer who understands the operational realities of production environments, including live incident response, performance optimization, system reliability, and distributed failure management. Candidates should have a proven track record of owning production systems end-to-end and making sound technical decisions under pressure.
This is a hands‑on engineering position focused on developing and operating scalable backend services and AI‑powered systems in production, rather than research, prototypes, or proof‑of‑concept development.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Engineering: Design, develop, and maintain production‑grade Python services, ensuring reliability, scalability, performance, observability, and operational stability.
- Azure Cloud Architecture: Build and operate Azure‑native distributed systems using Azure Functions, Durable Functions, Event Grid, Service Bus, and related cloud infrastructure.
- AI and LLM Orchestration: Develop and maintain production‑ready AI applications, including Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, agentic workflows, and LLM orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, AutoGen, and Semantic Kernel.
- Production Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve production incidents using distributed tracing, log analytics, profiling tools, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and other observability solutions.
- Engineering Best Practices: Establish and maintain standards for code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, safe deployments, rollback strategies, and incident post‑mortems.
- Distributed Systems Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks, concurrency issues, scaling challenges, event‑ordering problems, and downstream service failures.
- Cross‑Technology Collaboration: Contribute to secondary technology stacks, including C#, as needed, while demonstrating transparency regarding technical strengths and limitations.
Required Qualifications
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 8–10+ years of professional backend or distributed systems engineering experience, including hands‑on ownership of production systems.
- Python Expertise: Strong proficiency in Python, including performance optimization, concurrency, debugging, and production reliability.
- Azure Production Experience: Extensive hands‑on experience designing, deploying, and supporting applications in Microsoft Azure production environments, beyond certifications or lab‑based projects.
- Incident Management: Proven ability to investigate and resolve complex production incidents, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, validate fixes, and establish preventive measures.
- Distributed Systems Knowledge: Strong understanding of distributed architectures, failure handling, scalability, reliability, and operational recovery.
- Production Support: Experience participating in on‑call rotations, troubleshooting live incidents, and maintaining service availability under high‑load conditions.
- Engineering Quality: Practical experience with testing strategies, code reviews, CI/CD, deployment safety, and production monitoring.
Preferred Qualifications
- Production AI and RAG Systems: Experience deploying and maintaining LLM‑powered applications and RAG pipelines in production, including prompt drift, latency optimization, evaluation quality, and cost management.
- High‑Concurrency Architectures: Experience with queue‑based systems, event‑driven architectures, streaming platforms, or large‑scale SQL and NoSQL workloads.
- DevOps and CI/CD: Experience owning deployment pipelines, rollback mechanisms, operational automation, and release management.
- C# Experience: Working proficiency in C# or experience contributing to applications built using multiple technology stacks.
