Cruxx in Central New Jersey is seeking a hands-on software engineer to own the real-time navigation pipeline for an image-guided surgery system. You’ll develop production C++ components, test on bench and in cadaver labs, and collaborate with hardware and integration teams in an on-site role reporting to the Senior Software Engineering Leader.
You will translate research code into robust product software, build instrumentation and tests, and ensure regulatory documentation and traceability.
A MedTech company, Central New Jersey. On-site. Reports to the Senior Software Engineering Leader (CTO until that hire lands).
A surgeon in the operating room needs to know, in real time and to within a millimetre, where the patient is and where the plan says the next step should go. Our client does that with vision-based navigation and computer vision rather than tracking hardware fixed to the patient. The pipeline that makes it work has to capture, register, track and render inside a surgical workflow, on hardware in the room, without dropping a frame or asking the surgeon to wait.
You will build and harden that pipeline.
You join a small software team that owns the navigation platform end to end: sensor capture and calibration, the registration and tracking pipeline, the planning and intra-operative user interface, and the integration with a complex electromechanical surgical system. The work is hands-on and close to the metal. You will stand next to the system you are writing software for, and you will test it on the bench and in cadaver labs, not only in simulation.
Qt or similar desktop UI frameworks, ROS or ROS 2, OpenCV, PCL, Open3D or equivalent, experience in a regulated software lifecycle (IEC 62304 or similar), prior work on surgical, medical imaging or image-guided systems.
