Job summary

Antech Diagnostics is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain embedded software for diagnostic devices used in veterinary clinics. You will contribute across firmware, analytics, GUI, and connected tooling, collaborating with a diverse engineering team to deliver robust, compliant software.

The role emphasizes C++ development, embedded Linux, DevOps, and testing, with opportunities to mentor teammates and influence product directions in a fast-growing diagnostics

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or a similar field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum five (5) years professional software development experience.
Demonstrated object-oriented C++ programming skill.
Experience with embedded Linux development.
Dev-Ops experience, including Docker, GitLab CI, and version control systems.
AWS or Azure infrastructure management.
Experience developing automated tests and using a mock framework.

Responsibilities

Architect and write C++ code for embedded systems and tooling.
Conduct peer-reviews and technical assessments to ensure robust solutions and quality.
Participate in project planning by providing technical inputs and progress evaluations.
Mentor less experienced Software Engineers.
Collaborate with project leadership and other engineering disciplines to develop software requirements, verification, and validation protocols.
Other duties as assigned.

The Target Pay Range for this position is $ 125,000 - $ 145,000 annually. At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.

The Software Engineer will be a member of a team of skilled engineers designing, developing, and maintaining software for embedded systems and toolsets within the Antech In-House Diagnostics organization. Primary focus is on embedded software systems for new and existing analytical devices used in veterinary clinics. Critical functions are broad, ranging from on-device firmware, analytical algorithms, connectivity, GUI design, DevOps, manufacturing tools, and support of customer-facing software. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Education And Experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or a similar field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Essential:

Minimum five (5) years professional software development experience.
Demonstrated object-oriented C++ programming skill.
Experience with embedded Linux development.
Dev-Ops experience, including Docker, GitLab CI, and version control systems.
AWS or Azure infrastructure management.
Experience developing automated tests and using a mock framework.

Preferred:

GUI Development experience, especially experience with Qt.
Experience with Yocto.
Experience with connectivity to laboratory information management system (LIMS) or Electronic Health Records (EHR).
Medical device experience (or similarly regulated field) and strong understanding of software development/validation under IEC 62304 within an FDA QSR or ISO 13485 quality management system.
Knowledge of software hardening techniques against cybersecurity attacks.

Working Conditions

The associate is regularly required to apply manual dexterity, including hand/wrist flexibility, for computer keyboarding. The associate frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The associate is frequently required to hear and speak in order to use the telephone, make presentations and communicate with people in an office environment. The associate is occasionally required to sit and stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

The associate will primarily work in a typical office environment including the use of cubicles, computers and overhead lighting. Temperature extremes will be minimal to nonexistent. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The associate will be required to use a computer, spreadsheets, database management, email, and the Internet.
