Jobtailor is seeking a Senior Solution Architect to own the integration of vendor policy administration platforms with internal systems for new annuity products in a regulated financial services environment.

You will mentor engineers, guide cross-team decisions, and coordinate releases across vendor and internal platforms while driving architectural excellence and automation efforts.

Qualifications

Job description

Partner with business and product stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
Own solution architecture connecting the vendor policy administration system with internal platforms for new annuity products
Guide design decisions with vendor engineering and internal platform teams
Identify and automate manual deployment, testing, and operational handoff processes
Document existing processes, integration behavior, and system architecture; define future-state architecture and roadmap
Facilitate integration of internal systems and third-party/vendor solutions
Manage the solution architecture roadmap and quarterly planning dependencies
Lead software and vendor selection, technical due diligence, and build-versus-buy/configure recommendations
Coordinate releases and deployments across vendor and internal platforms
Support QA through testable integration architecture and test automation tooling
Identify and reduce technical debt in team tooling
Eliminate process debt and automate manual and paper-based workflows
Bring feasibility assessments and cross-platform dependencies into quarterly planning
Promote AI-assisted tools and workflows
Plan data and reporting needs with the Data Platforms team
Lead incident response and post-mortems for complex production issues; remain available off-hours for critical incidents
Mentor engineers, review technical designs and architecture decision records, and serve as the team's technical resource
Occasionally prototype, perform spikes, or solve difficult technical problems hands-on

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
Minimum 7 years of experience in software engineering or technical leadership
Significant prior hands-on development experience
Experience providing architectural oversight of vendor-built or third-party platforms and integrations
Experience running vendor/software evaluations, technical due diligence, build-versus-buy, and build-versus-configure analyses
Experience owning a product or platform roadmap and leading quarterly planning cycles
Experience with release management, testing coordination, and test automation practices
Experience defining and executing technical debt reduction strategies
Working knowledge of full-stack, cloud-native architecture, including TypeScript/React, REST integration, SQL/data, and AWS
Insurance, annuity, or retirement domain experience strongly preferred
Experience with vendor policy administration platforms such as FAST, wmA, OIPA, or comparable is a strong plus
Comfort collaborating directly with external vendor engineering and product teams
Ability to quickly learn new domains, tools, and vendor platforms
Experience using AI-assisted approaches to improve efficiency and quality
Financial services or regulated-industry experience preferred
