Job summary

i3 is seeking a Software Engineer with 7+ years of professional experience to develop command and control (C2) and autonomy software for uncrewed platforms, including planes, boats, vehicles and submersibles. The project leverages the latest .NET tools to support DoD customers in a rigorous, high-safety environment.

You will work with an Agile team, perform architecture reviews, documentation updates, and comprehensive testing of new capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Bachelor of Science degree (ABET preferred) in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or the hard sciences.
  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Team player who is creative and adaptive.
  • Comfortable in a Linux environment.
  • Experience leading small to mid-sized development teams.
  • Active Secret Clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

Job description

i3 is seeking a Software Engineer with 7+ years of professional experience to develop cutting edge command and control (C2) and autonomy software for various uncrewed platforms including planes, boats, vehicles, and submersibles. This is a new project leveraging the latest .NET tools, best practices, and technology to support various DoD customers.

  • The candidate will work with an Agile software development team delivering value to a DoD customer in small, incremental iterations.
  • The candidate will be responsible for following pre-defined software safety practices to develop flight critical software. This includes software architecture reviews, documentation updates, and comprehensive testing of new capabilities.
  • Candidate will develop software designs using best practices and object-oriented methodologies.
  • Candidate will develop automated unit and integration level tests.
  • Candidate will utilize good configuration management practices and will be responsible for proper code maintenance, merging, and configuration management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Required skills
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Have a Bachelor of Science degree (or advanced degree) from an accredited college (ABET preferred) in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or the hard sciences.
  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Candidate must be a team player and be creative, adaptive, and excited to learn.
  • Comfortable in a Linux environment.
  • Experience leading small to mid-sized development teams.
  • Candidate must be familiar with good configuration management practices.
  • Active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance or higher.
  • Position Location In office in Huntsville, AL
  • CONUS Travel required Less than 10%
Preferred Experience/Skills
  • Experience with C#/.NET, Python Rust.
  • Prefer understanding of agile software development, ideally Extreme Programming (XP).
  • Familiarity with Git for software source control and configuration management.
  • Experience with remote controlled boats, vehicles, or planes is a plus.
  • Experience with single board computers (Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, etc.).
  • Familiarity with UxS command and control message formats (ex. STANAG-4586, UCI, MAVLink).
  • Experience developing next generation C2 architectures for the DoD.

  • Regular i3 hours are 800 a.m. - 500 p.m. Monday-Friday, however, additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
