Job summary

MGMA in Denver is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a hybrid team. The role focuses on developing dynamic services and multi-tier web applications using C#/.NET in an Agile environment.

The successful candidate will have 5+ years of software development experience, 3+ years with C# and MS SQL Server, and a solid understanding of modern web frameworks (Blazor/React/Vue/Angular) and MVC/Web API. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required and mentoring is expected.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Five or more years of software development experience.
  • Three or more years of experience with C# and Microsoft SQL Server.

  • Builds and develops the Association’s web and software applications.

  • Develops new feature requests and maintains, upgrades, and troubleshoots existing applications and web services.

The Medical Group Management Association (MGMA is looking for a Sr. Software Engineerto join our Denver/hybrid team.

The Senior Software Developer is responsible for developing dynamic services for the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) members and internal staff by using Full-stack C# .Net building n-tier web applications and services using the latest methodologies, in an Agile, iterative development environment.

Essential Functions:
  • Builds and develops the Association’s web and software applications.
  • Analyzes the business needs to create functional and effective applications for the Association’s members and internal business users.
  • Researches and identifies the business’s technical requirements.
  • Develops new feature requests and maintains, upgrades, and troubleshoots existing applications and web services.
  • Implements software solutions using the Association’s in-house software platforms and custom software libraries.
  • Works with the system architecture and within the defined structures and standards.
  • Develops code within the established processes and standards.
  • Manages and owns assigned projects effectively and efficiently.
  • Occasionally supervises consultants and third-party solution vendors.
  • Shares business or technical information with colleagues.
  • Assists and mentor other developers.
  • Other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of the organization.
Supervisory duties:
  • None, but may lead and mentor less experienced team members as needed.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of MGMA’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Strongly self-directed, proactive, organized, and engaging with the business owners.
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of the .NET Framework, including Visual Studio, C#, ASP.NET, WCF, ADO.NET, Entity Framework, and MS SQL.
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of commonly used software patterns.
  • Experience with modern web frameworks such as Blazor, React, Vue, or Angular.
  • Experience with MVC, Web API, or ODATA.
  • Experience with .NET testing frameworks, such as NUnit or MSTest.
  • Experience designing and working with n-tier architectures.
  • Experience with source control systems.
  • Follows SOLID principles and OWASP standards.
  • Strongly self-directed, proactive, organized, and engaging with the business owners.
  • Ability to take user and business requirements and translate them to appropriate technology solutions.
  • Ability to develop technical specification documentation.
  • Must be results oriented and a motivated self-starter with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Team player who can establish excellent working relationships with peers and other teams.
  • Ability to lead and mentor peers and less experienced software developers in a patient and instructional fashion.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field required. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Experience:
  • Five (5) or more years of experience as a software developer.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience with C# or similar language.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server or similar database server.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

  • Must have reliable transportation.
