Job summary

The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering discipline with experience delivering mission-critical defense software, holds U.S.

citizenship, an active secret clearance, and ten years of related experience.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, computer/software engineering or computer science plus 10 years of related software design, development and engineering experience.
• Active Secret Security Clearance.
• 5 years of demonstrated experience in: weapon systems software, Linux/Windows interfaces, EW/shipboard systems, combat system integration, Navy software safety, simulations, real-time architectures, IA/Cyber, IV&V, OO design, Agile.
• Proficiency in languages/tools: C++, C#, Rust, Java, Simulink, Python, GNAT Ada, VxWorks, Tornado, JavaScript/TypeScript; and protocols TCP/UDP, RTI DDS, PLA; experience with Docker/Podman for containers.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, test, and sustain software for Navy EW and shipboard systems.
• Create real-time applications, combat-system interfaces, modeling/simulation, and containerized environments.
• Apply software engineering discipline to mission-critical defense systems.

DCS is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the NSWCDD B30 Electronic Warfare and Spectrum Operations (EWSO) mission. This position will design, develop, integrate, test, and sustain software for Navy EW and shipboard systems, including real-time applications, combat-system interfaces, modeling and simulation, and containerized environments. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering discipline with experience developing mission-critical defense systems.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Bachelor or higher degree from an accredited university in engineering, computer/software engineering or computer science plus 10 years of experience in software design, development and engineering applied to program and system level development.

Active Secret Security Clearance.

5 years of demonstrated experience in the following areas:

• Developing weapons systems and subsystem level software products, databases (Oracle, MSAccess, etc).
• LINUX and MS Windows operating systems and interfaces.
• Electronic Warfare Systems and other Shipboard systems.
• Combat system integration and system architecture.
• Navy Software Safety and industry best programming practices.
• Modeling and/or simulations, real-time system control architectures, interface coding, Information Assurance/Cyber Security requirements, Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) experience.
• Ability to code in programming languages and tools such as: in C++; C #; Rust; JAVA; Simu-Link; Python; GNAT Ada compiler; VxWorks; Tornado; JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Developing software to communicate with other hardware using protocols such as: Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)/ Internet Protocol (IP), User Datagram Protocol (UDP), Real-Time Innovations (RTI) Data Distribution Service (DDS), and Product Line Architecture (PLA), and serial communications.
• Object Oriented software design concepts.
• Agile methodology.

3 years concurrent progressive experience developing applications in a containerized environment (such as Docker and Podman).
