Job summary

DrayNow, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and lead technical projects in logistics. You will focus on EDI, API integration, and AWS-based cloud architecture to drive real-time intermodal freight solutions.

The role reports to the Director of Engineering and is based in Conshohocken, PA with a hybrid work model (onsite 3 days/week, remote 2 days/week). You will collaborate with product managers to translate requirements into scalable systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks.
• 2 years of AWS architecture experience; IaC ownership (CDK or Terraform).
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Strong understanding of logistics or supply chain systems.
• Experience in API design and development.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and leading technical projects in the logistics domain. Your expertise in EDI, API integration, and Cloud-based architecture will be instrumental in shaping the future of our technology stack.

The position will report to the Director of Engineering and is located in our Conshohocken, PA office. On-site 3 days / week, remote 2 days / week.

DrayNow is rapidly disrupting the logistics Industry by solving the first and last mile problem, starting with the intermodal freight segment. We are the first to create a real-time marketplace for the expanding intermodal freight segment of the shipping market that facilitates frictionless real-time interactions connecting Truckers and Customers to seamlessly haul intermodal loads throughout the United States.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership:
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of engineers, ensuring alignment with best practices and industry standards.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Set the bar for effective use of AI-assisted development on the team.
• Cloud Architecture:
  • Serve as a senior voice in AWS design decisions, contributing to service selection, networking, security boundaries, scaling, and cost, and carrying cloud work end to end rather than handing it off.
  • Partner with our Tech Lead to document and broaden knowledge of our AWS environment.
  • Event-Driven Architecture: Design and implement event-driven systems to enable real-time processing and decision-making, enhancing the agility and responsiveness of our logistics operations.
  • Architect and optimize systems for scalability, performance, and high availability to support our rapidly growing user base.
• Logistics Expertise:
  • Leverage your deep understanding of logistics processes and systems to design and implement software solutions that optimize supply chain operations.
• EDI Integration:
  • Lead efforts in designing, implementing, and managing Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) systems, ensuring seamless communication between our platform and external partners.
• API Integration:
  • Architect and develop robust APIs for seamless integration with third-party systems, ensuring efficient data exchange and interoperability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5 years of professional experience building software applications.
• Experience with JavaScript and JavaScript Frameworks (React, Node, Express, React Native, etc). All new development is in TypeScript.
• 2 years of experience with AWS architecture. You can defend technology decisions. Infrastructure as code ownership (CDK or Terraform) expected. Our production stack uses AWS Lambda, ECS, Fargate, and Aurora Postgres. AWS Solutions Architect certification is a plus; demonstrated architecture ownership matters more.
• Experience working with SQL and relational databases, experience with JSONB a plus.
• Strong proficiency in logistics systems and processes.
• Experience in API design and development.
• Expertise in event-driven architecture and real-time processing.
• Fluent with AI-assisted development tooling and best practices in your daily work, including sound judgment about reviewing and validating what these tools produce. Hands-on experience with emerging AI-assisted development techniques is a plus.
• Proven leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience with EDI integration.
• Familiarity with logistics or supply chain systems.
