Job summary

SPR is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in the Chicago area to drive full lifecycle development, translate business requirements into robust solutions, and mentor teammates. You will work across client projects, staying current with trends and applying best practices to deliver high-impact software.

You will participate in design decisions, collaborate with multiple teams, and thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment while commuting to client sites in the Chicago land area.

WHAT IS THE POSITION?

As a Senior Software Engineer at SPR, you will create complex solutions and play a key technical role within the company and with clients. You will be responsible for full lifecycle development and must be able to articulate design decisions and translate business requirements/user stories into application logic as a team member or as an individual.

Our Engineers are a driving force behind the success of our projects. We're looking for a motivated self-starter who keeps an eye on trends and new technology in the industry and who is eager to tackle challenging troubleshooting and development tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Full lifecycle software development and testing using modern tools and techniques
• Assists with mentoring and training of mid-level engineers and other team members
• Participates in new hire interview and onboarding processes
• Provides input into and helps document solution designs and technical strategies
• Communicates with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, identify tasks, and provide estimates
• Attend all daily stand-up sessions, project meetings (planning, review, etc.), client demonstrations, etc.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to handle diverse situations and changing priorities
• Expertise in the areas of design patterns, application architecture, distributed systems, data structures, and algorithms

• Must be have expert level experience in aspects of modern software development:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• 5+ years of professional experience
• BA or BS, preferably in computer science, engineering, or science / technology-based discipline

SPR is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this position, Senior Software Engineer, the base salary pay range is $126,000 to $154,000. In addition, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
